Leading luxury electric vehicle maker Lotus has announced the start of European sales for its first electric hyper-GT , the Emeya . The vehicle marks further progress in Lotus ’ Vision80 strategy , which aims to transform the company to an all-electric global premium technology brand .
Emeya is different from Lotus ’ previous vehicles as it can achieve a 10-80 % charge within 18 minutes and a maximum WLTP range of 610km . Emeya can accelerate from 0-100km / h ( 0-62mph ) in 2.8 seconds , making it one of the fastest electric vehicles ever .
Its lightweight carbon ceramic brakes reduce weight and braking distance – which contribute to dynamic handling – as well as doubling the lifespan of the components .
Lotus has reconstructed the battery layout so 20 % more cells fit into the same space , increasing range by up to a fifth .
The three Emeya models are :
• Emeya , the entry point for the range
• Emeya S , a well-equipped Hyper-GT model
• Emeya R , the flagship .
